A college baseball game on Sunday was temporarily halted — and later found to be safe and clear — because of a bomb threat that brought police to the stadium.

ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported that Louisville’s game with North Carolina was postponed and the school also confirmed the incident on Twitter as the Louisville Metro Police Department Bomb Detection Unit responded. UNC led 5-1 in the top of the sixth when police approached the athletic director’s suite with news of the threat. City and county police were on scene. The incident cleared about 2,000 fans from the stadium, and the game was set to resume at 5:10 p.m. with essential personnel only.

North Carolina and Louisville are among the ACC’s better teams with the Cardinals atop the Atlantic Division heading into Sunday with a record of 22-8 and 8-3 in the league. Louisville is ranked No. 11 in the current Baseball America poll, while the Tar Heels are ranked No. 20.

Ben Metzinger on Saturday launched a walk-off home run to give the Cardinals a 9-8 victory in 10 innings over North Carolina to split the series.
