College football fans are excited for the return of the sport they love this weekend. But as we all know all too well, college football fanatics are not the most patient bunch.

And, frankly, West Virginia coach Neal Brown is quickly running out of goodwill in Morgantown.

Yes, it was always going to be difficult for Brown’s Mountaineers to go into Penn State and beat the Nittany Lions. But to lose 38-17 to the No. 7 team in the country struck many fans as unacceptable.

Here’s a sampling of the reaction to the poor performance from Brown’s squad on Saturday night:

That last tweet (or X) appears to be sarcasm, for the record. Yeah, it’s a tough time for Neal Brown in Morgantown right now.

Can the Mountaineers right the ship and save their coach’s job? They play Duquesne in Morgantown next weekend, so that should be a comfortable win. If not, expect the heat on Brown to intensify.
