Did Indiana just cancel its alternate uniforms due to fan backlash?
The Indiana Hoosiers were supposed to wear a “Salute to Service” uniform for today’s game with Michigan.
However, the Hoosiers will instead go with a different look.
Here were the uniforms Indiana was originally scheduled to wear:

But, according to Zach Osterman, the Hoosiers backed off that plan after the Big Ten said those uniforms lacked contrast with Michigan’s road white uniforms:
BREAKING (I guess): IU won’t wear the salute to service uniforms Saturday after all. Contrast issue with Michigan’s road whites. #iufb pic.twitter.com/ULJNmG3Bpe

But, there’s also reason to suspect that the change could be due to fan backlash, as many responses to both tweets above were negative about the salute to service messaging during these divisive times.
It is an interesting situation in Indiana, for sure. We’ll see if the Hoosiers wear their “Salute to Service” uniforms in the future, or if they use this out from the Big Ten as a way to avoid future fan backlash.
