Florida State suffers decommitment for elite 4-star 2025 edge
Florida State saw a massive decommitment from their 2025 class on Sunday, nearly a week after it dropped to 0-2 after a loss at Boston College.
Javion Hilson, a 4-star edge considered a top 50 recruit by 247Sports, announced on X that he had decommitted from the Seminoles.
“After careful consideration, I have decided to decommit from Florida State and reopen my recruitment. I will be making my final decision in December,” Hilson wrote.
Hilson, from Cocoa (Fla.), is rated by 247Sports’ composite ranking as the No. 2 edge in the country and the No. 6 player in Florida. He committed to the Seminoles on Jan. 16.
He currently has 37 offers, including a host of SEC programs. That includes Florida and Texas, who received visits from him in the summer along with UCF and Florida State.
Now, Hilson has backed off his pledge, opting to reconsider his options in the wake of a dreadful start to the season for the Seminoles. They lost 24-21 to Georgia Tech in their season opener before Monday’s 28-13 defeat at Boston College.
After careful consideration, I have decided to decommit from Florida State and reopen my recruitment. I will be making my final decision in December. Thank you to everyone at FSU for their support.
