The Texas Longhorns are reportedly considering a coaching change this offseason.

There are rumors that former Ohio State and Florida coach Urban Meyer could be interested in taking over for Tom Herman, but no changes have been made as of Saturday morning.

On Saturday morning’s episode of College GameDay, ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit said he doesn’t think anyone outside of an Urban Meyer-Nick Saban type can win at Texas due to the expectations:

“It’s unrealistic expectations,” he said. “It’s 9 regents that have the power — imagine having 9 Jerry Joneses looking over your shoulder after everything you do. Not 1, 9 that are involved in everything you do. It’s going to take an Urban Meyer, Nick Saban personality to be able to handle that to win games.”

After host Rece Davis stepped in to defend Texas’s history, Herbstreit wasn’t having it. He came back with more on the Longhorns being overrated historically:

“Go back and look at their history, man,” he said. “Mack (Brown) had a good run from ’98 to ’09, but they’re not what you think they are as far as their history. They’re not. They’ve had some good years, but besides Mack’s era, when was the last time they were competing for championships? Earl Campbell? That was the late ’70s!”

Can the Longhorns land Meyer? If not, what will they do? We’ll see what happens after the season.
