Louisville handed down a suspension following a now infamous firing of one of its assistant men’s basketball coaches.
Head coach Chris Mack has been suspended 6 games without pay during the 2021-22 season, according to the school. The suspension will include six non-conference games, including two during Louisville’s event in the Bahamas.
The school concluded that Mack was a victim of an extortion attempt from former assistant Dino Gaudio, the school said in a release. But UofL said Mack failed to follow university guidelines, policies and procedures.
Athletics Director Vince Tyra said that he has high expectations for staff and UofL holds people accountable for their actions.
Mack will forfeit about $221,000 in compensation.
