Mike Gundy has talked extensively about the ending of the Bedlam rivalry because of Oklahoma’s move to the SEC. On Wednesday, the Oklahoma State coach offered his latest rant at Big 12 Media Days.

Speaking to Brett McMurphy, Gundy doubled down on previous comments to further clarify which program is to blame for the end of one of the great rivalries in the country. It dates back to 1904, but is no longer scheduled, at least for the time being, because of conference realignment.

“When Oklahoma decided to leave the Big 12 they chose to end Bedlam. It’s a one-sided deal. People we’re trying to decide what happened and what needs to happen to make it go on. They kept pushing Oklahoma State into it. We didn’t have jack to do with that. They left the conference, Bedlam goes with it. The SEC eventually will go to a 9-game schedule, I’m sure Oklahoma has a Power 5 team they’re playing every year. We would have a difficult time matching up with them in non-conference. We’re scheduled out through ’37. We’re not responsible to change what we do because they left the conference. It’s real simple. They chose to get into the SEC. That’s the choice they made.”

Nearly a year ago, Gundy said Oklahoma chose to follow Texas and the money to the SEC, and since that decision happened, talking about it amounts to “childish discussions.”

“OU’s officials were in negotiations with the SEC for months and months before anybody in the league or the conference knew about it. During those multi-billion-dollar conversations, I wonder if Bedlam was ever brought up that point, instead of the money,” Gundy said at the time. “Bedlam is history, we all know that. OU chose follow Texas and the money to the SEC, it’s OK. So now, we are having, what I think are childish discussions in my opinion, over something that is done.”
