Mike Norvell confirms season-ending injury for versatile FSU playmaker
Mike Norvell and the Florida State Seminoles are off to an 0-2 start on the season, and the news got worse on Monday.
Running back Jaylin Lucas, who was expected to be a playmaker for the Seminoles in both the passing and run game, will miss the remainder of the season.
“We got some unfortunate news that Jaylin Lucas will be out for the year,” Norvell said during Monday’s press conference. “He sustained an injury in our last game. I am really disappointed for the young man. He is a very talented player and explosive athlete for us, but unfortunately he has an injury that will keep him out for the rest of the season.”
In his first 2 college seasons at Indiana, Lucas scored 6 offensive touchdowns and delivered some electric moments in the return game. Last year, he had 522 yards and was equally as good out of the backfield catching passes with 34 receptions for 247 yards.
Norvell said he does expect Lucas back playing for the Seminoles next year and helping the team this season.
“He does have a redshirt available, so he still has a couple years of eligibility. Our thoughts are with him as he is jumping into the rehab part of the recovery and injury. I do know that he is going to do a great job of continuing to help the guys on the field.”
Florida State will look to get the first win of the season as the Seminoles host Memphis this week.
With NC State taking a hit this past weekend, it feels like this is Louisville’s year to capitalize on.
Along with Miami and Clemson as the top 3 in the ACC
If those players overlook Memphis they will start the season at 0-3
