Omarion Hampton scores 5 touchdowns in UNC's triumphant win over Florida State
Omarion Hampton was already having a fine junior season for North Carolina before Saturday.
Then the Tar Heels got to play putrid Florida State and, well, Hampton had a field day like so many other opposing players have against the Seminoles this season.
Hampton had 32 carries for 172 yards and 4 touchdowns, powering North Carolina to a 35-11 victory over Florida State in Tallahassee. The Tar Heels improved to an OK 5-4, while the Seminoles fell to a jaw-dropping 1-8 in a season that began with them in the Top 25, even if it doesn’t even feel like the same season by now for FSU fans.
Well, it is, and Hampton went to work against the Seminoles defense, doing his damage on the ground and out of the backfield. Hampton led the Tar Heels in receiving yards, catching 3 passes for 93 yards and another touchdown.
Just to recap the 1-man onslaught, Hampton had 35 touches on the day for 265 yards and 5 touchdowns. He spread out the TDs, too, running for 2 touchdowns each in the 2nd and 3rd quarters before adding that TD catch in the 4th. He had all 5 of North Carolina’s touchdowns, as Florida State couldn’t figure out a way to slow him down even if it knew Hampton was getting the ball.
Here’s video of Hampton’s 5th TD of the game:
and that’s the fourth time a Tar Heel has had 5 TDs in a game. #UNCommon

Hampton was already over 1,000 yards rushing coming into Saturday, so he beefed up his stats on the first Saturday of November and still has 3 games left to add to his totals. Hampton can take a breath now, with UNC having a bye in Week 11, before he gets rolling again in Week 12 against Wake Forest.
