Pat Narduzzi wasn’t really happy with the way his team played at times during the rivalry game against West Virginia; however, escaping with a narrow win in the Backyard Brawl can help a coach overlook some of those mistakes.
Narduzzi’s Panthers beat the Mountaineers 38-31 Thursday night, thanks to a pick-6 by MJ Devonshire with under 3 minutes to play in the fourth quarter.
Following the win, Narduzzi jumped on ESPN with Scott Van Pelt, and the Pittsburgh coach fired a shot at ESPN during the discussion.
“Well, it was a great atmosphere out here. I can tell you that,” he said. “Panther Nation stood out. I saw some stat that it was going to be 75 percent West Virginia fans.
“You guys messed that up on ESPN for sure,” he continued. “It was certainly all Pitt here today.”
