TCU on Monday evening officially announced that Sonny Dykes will become its next head coach. Dykes takes over for Gary Patterson, who helmed the program for over 20 years before his departure mid-season.

Dykes didn’t have far to go as he spent 5 years in Dallas as the head coach of SMU following the hiring of Chad Morris at Arkansas. He was 30-18 overall (18-13 AAC) and had coached the Mustangs to 3 straight winning seasons. Prior to that, Dykes was the head coach at Louisiana Tech for 3 seasons and California for 4 seasons.

The Horned Frogs saw their season end at 5-7 (3-6 Big 12), their second losing season in 3 years. They were led on an interim basis by Jerry Kill, who was 2-2.
