Washington punter gets absolutely destroyed, comes up short on fake punt

Washington is in a fight with Arizona State on Saturday night in Seattle.

The Huskies are without head coach Jimmy Lake, who was suspended for this game after shoving a player last week.

The interim coach clearly isn’t afraid to go for broke, as he showed on a fake punt in the third quarter. As you can see below, though, the fake ended with the punter taking a huge hit:

He was definitely close to getting the first down, but he was ultimately ruled short, which probably made that hit hurt just a little bit worse.

Washington holds a 24-14 lead in the fourth quarter, so clearly the fake punt fail didn’t hurt the Huskies. We’ll see if they can hang on for the win.
