Texas A&M’s season was a mess.

The quarterback situation never panned out and the Aggies are heading into 2016 with several major question marks.

Here are 5 areas Texas A&M needs to improve in 2016:

1. QB stability — The Aggies entered the 2015 season with two top prospects under center. But neither could get the job done. Kyle Allen was solid at times, but inconsistent. He finished the season with 2,210 yards, 17 touchdowns and seven picks. When he got shaky, Kyler Murray came in and couldn’t win the job. Murray had 686 yards, five TDs and seven interceptions. Trevor Knight or Jake Hubenak need to get the job done.

2. Better coaching — It would be one thing if just one quarterback transferred. But they both did. Sure, Murray and Allen didn’t blow people away but it’s the job of the coaching staff to groom and prepare them. It’s a major red flag that they both left. Kevin Sumlin should be on the hot seat headed into 2016.

3. Run defense — A defense with major playmakers, the Aggies finished 100th in the nation against the run. It allowed 213 rush yards per game.

4. Rushing offense — Tra Carson had 1,165 yards and seven TDs. Opposing defenses game planned heavily for the Texas A&M rushing attack, which made the Aggies one-dimensional. The rushing offense finished 63rd in the nation. It needs to be better in 2016.

5, Ride the early momentum — Texas A&M started strong. It picked up big wins over Arizona State, Arkansas and Mississippi State. But then the Aggies faced Alabama in mid-October and the wheels fell off. They got pummeled by the Crimson Tide 41-23 and lost to Ole Miss the week after. Texas A&M needs to start hot next season and ride it throughout the year. It can’t let one big loss derail its season.
