Jimbo Fisher no longer coaches Florida State, but he still has plenty of influence in the school’s recruiting footprint.

He proved that Wednesday by flipping 4-star defensive end Derick Hunter to Texas A&M. Hunter entered the first day of the Early Signing Period committed to the Seminoles but ultimately chose Fisher and the Aggies, as you can see in the video below tweeted by 247Sports’ Brian Perroni.

Hunter committed to Florida State in June, well after Willie Taggart had taken over to replace the departed Fisher. But Texas A&M’s first-year coach was still able to work his magic on the defensive end out of Fort Myers, Florida.

Fisher had to beat a few other home-state schools for Hunter’s services — the two other hats Hunter chose from represented Florida and Miami, which indicated the Seminoles were not among his finalists.

According to 247Sports.com’s composite ratings, Hunter is the 19th-ranked defensive end in this year’s recruiting class. He also slots as the No. 39 player from Florida and the No. 277 player nationally.

Aggies fans have to be thrilled that Fisher can still recruit in Florida, especially now that Texas is his backyard.
