Jacob Hester shares opinion on the final straw leading to Jimbo Fisher's firing
The biggest news on Sunday in the college football world was the announcement that Texas A&M had fired Jimbo Fisher.
The Aggies have been disappointing, but they were able to knock off the Mississippi State Bulldogs, 51-10, on Saturday night. Still, Fisher is out the door with Associate head coach Elijah Robinson set to serve as interim head coach.
Former LSU fullback Jacob Hester talked on Sirius XM Radio what he believes ultimately led to the decision.
“You tried the Hail Mary pass, though,” Hester said. “Bobby Petrino is kind of the Hail Mary. You go hire him to be the offensive coordinator, and although they have been better this year than they were a year ago. To me it is, okay, you tried the last ditch effort. We threw it in the endzone from the 50-yard line hoping it would be tipped and then caught, but it fell to the ground.”

Petrino was hired as the offensive coordinator this year to help the offense ascend to another level.
Even though the team hasn’t won as many games as fans would have liked, the offense last year without Petrino was 97th in scoring (22.0 PPG). This year with Petrino, the team is 18th in the country with an average of 34.2 points.
