Texas A&M started the season in the top-10 and considered by many to be a national championship contender.

The Aggies, however, have been one of the nation’s most disappointing teams, losing their last two games to Arkansas and Mississippi State to fall to 3-2 on the season.

Jimbo Fisher’s team has especially struggled offensively, thanks in part to an injury to starting quarterback Haynes King in Week 2 against Colorado.

The 6-3, 200-pound freshman suffered a fractured ankle against the Buffaloes and following surgery was ruled out until at least mid-October.

During his weekly press conference Monday, Fisher was asked about King’s recovery and provided an update on the Longview, Texas native.

“We’ll make sure he’s fully healthy, but he’s progressing,” Fisher said. “His mind is into every game plan and meeting.”

King completed 22-of-35 passes for 300 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions before being injured.

Sophomore Zach Calzada has taken over the starting role and passed for 744 yards, 5 touchdowns, and 4 interceptions.

The Aggies will look to break their 2-game losing streak at Missouri on Saturday.
