Johnny Manziel is back…on Twitter.

The former Texas A&M standout got social media’s attention when he tweeted early Saturday morning (1:54 a.m. ET), “Oliver Luck. If ya wanna boost your ratings to another level just send me the contract tomorrow and we’re in there. Like I said YEARS ago… XFL2020 give the people what they want.”

By the time most American sports fans got out of bed on Saturday morning, Manziel had disappeared from Twitter, deactivating his account. The absence didn’t last long. Less than 24 hours later, Johnny Football was back on the social media platform, explaining his tweet about the XFL.

On Saturday night (9:52 p.m. ET), Manziel tweeted, “Have zero desire to play any football these days. Just love stirring up controversy.”

Manziel, who has dealt with numerous off-field issues over the years, lasted two seasons (2014, ’15) in the NFL before his release from the Cleveland Browns. Since then, Manziel has played in the Canadian Football League with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Montreal Alouettes in 2018 and then the Memphis Express of the now-defunct Alliance of American Football in 2019.

Manziel still includes “C o m e b a c k S Z N” in his Twitter profile and a link to comebackszn.store, but if you take him at his word, comeback season won’t involve playing in the XFL.
