Kevin Sumlin says his approach to CFB transfers much like NFL's approach to free agency
Kevin Sumlin said on Tuesday that he approaches the transfer process in college football in much the same way that NFL teams approach free agency.
“Where we have holes or deficiencies in the depth chart,” Sumlin noted, “We take a transfer and plug them in.”
For instance, Sumlin is saying, if the Aggies were hypothetically thin on the defensive line, they might accept a couple of junior college defensive tackles.
Many college coaches probably view transfers in this same way, but it was an interesting perspective that Sumlin offered.
It makes sense that schools would prefer to accept transfers to fill positions of need.
Sumlin made the comments at his usual Tuesday press conference:
“My approach to transfers is much like free agency at the next level… where we have holes or deficiencies in the depth chart.” Kevin Sumlin said.
