Texas A&M’s offensive line is hoping to take a big step forward in 2020 but it will likely have to do so without Marcus “Tank” Jenkins as the redshirt sophomore has entered the NCAA transfer portal.

News of Jenkins’ decision to enter the NCAA transfer portal was first reported by Brian Perroni of 247Sports.

Jenkins was not projected to start this season, the Aggies are returning a veteran unit with seniors Dan Moore, Jared Hocker, Carson Green, Ryan McCollum in addition to returning sophomore starter Kenyon Green, but losing depth on the offensive line is never ideal this close to the start of the season.

A native of Montgomery, Ala., Jenkins was a four-star recruit in the 2018 recruiting cycle and was rated as the nation’s No. 11 offensive guard during his senior season at Park Crossing High School. Jenkins signed with Texas A&M over Oklahoma, Ole Miss and Louisville, among others.

As always, it must be noted that just because a player has entered the transfer portal, that doesn’t mean they cannot return to their current program. Entering the portal simply allows other coaches and programs to contact the player regarding a potential transfer.
