Texas A&M defensive end Myles Garrett drew a lofty comparison from one NFL personnel executive.

As NFL.com’s Daniel Jeremiah writes, the exec found parallels between Garrett and nine-time Pro Bowl player Julius Peppers. Check out what Jeremiah discovered below:

Biggest takeaway: Garrett is a prototype player. He has everything you’d want in a defensive end. He isn’t quite as twitched up as Jadeveon Clowney or Khalil Mack, but he is very polished as a pass rusher and he has the ability to dominate on all three downs. I spoke to one personnel executive who compared him to Julius Peppers. I wouldn’t put him in that class just yet, but he’s still very young and his best football is ahead of him.

It’s always trendy to compare top college players to elite NFL talents, but Jeremiah is right in this instance. Let’s pump the breaks before predicting that Garrett will become as destructive as Peppers, who will be known as one of the most dynamic defensive forces of his generation.

Still, Garrett’s ceiling appears high. He has 22.5 sacks in two seasons with the Aggies, including a career-high 11.5 last year. His 6-foot-5, 262-pound build is intriguing, and he’ll only become more powerful as he matures.

Keep a close eye on Garrett this year. You can bet that quarterbacks will.
