Former Texas A&M star Johnny Manziel was back in College Station on Saturday night, where he visited with Kyler Murray, the Aggies’ current quarterback, before the team’s game with Auburn.
Manziel posted this photo of the current and former Aggies quarterbacks on Instagram, and labeled Murray “The Future.”
Manziel had a memorable career at Texas A&M. He won the Heisman Trophy in 2012. In two seasons as the Aggies’ quarterback, he passed for 7,820 yards and 63 touchdowns, while rushing for 2,169 yards and 30 touchdowns. He was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft.
Murray is a highly-touted five-star recruit. The true freshman became Texas A&M’s starting quarterback in late October. In his first start, Murray passed for 223 yards and a touchdown and ran for 156 yards and a touchdown in the Aggies’ 35-28 win over South Carolina. On Saturday, he threw for 105 yards and rushed for 37, but was picked off three times before leaving with an undisclosed injury in the third quarter.
