Texas A&M AD Ross Bjork responds to report Aggies want to avoid same pod as Texas if SEC realigns
Do not expect Texas A&M to sweat one report from Saturday too much. At least not after AD Ross Bjork responded on Twitter.
The report centered around the idea that the SEC may realign once Texas and Oklahoma join the conference. While it is not hard to envision realignment occurring, how and when the SEC would do something is still tough to figure out.
According to that Saturday report that came from Horns 247, the SEC will institute a pod-style alignment once the Longhorns and Sooners come aboard. That report included the additional context that the Aggies are seeking to avoid getting placed in the same pod as Texas.
Bjork’s response to the story was short and clear enough. He tweeted a couple of laughing emojis, referenced the “sources,” in the store and finished off with the facepalm emoji. Needless to say, it sounds like this is more of a wild rumor than any sort of substantial report.
🤣🤣 “sources” 🤦♂️🤦♂️ https://t.co/OSZ5QmaJmw

Such a report is odd to see as reinstating a regular Texas-Texas A&M rivalry is likely desirable for both programs. The Longhorns also have just one season above 8 wins so the idea that the Aggies would somehow be scared of the matchup is also laughable.
This is the arrogant, obnoxious and delusional texas fan base that the SEC is allowing in. Once their insufferable fanbase gets into the club, it won’t take long for the rest of y’all to see what A&M, Arkansas and Mizzou have been warning you about.
I grew up a Longhorn fan, born and raised in TX. Can’t stand the Aggies to this day. But, I’m a Dawg now… and just gotta say, 88AG ain’t lying… the UT fan base, alums, and higher ups are without a doubt the most toxic bunch in the NCAA. They might tiptoe around for a couple years when they first join, maybe try to be on their best behavior, at first, but eventually their true colors will show.
(and yes by the way, Texas is the real UT , to literally anyone in the world that doesn’t live in the American Deep South. Tennessee is gonna need to change to avoid any confusion.)
The tu thing for Texas works just fine. They’re the new kids on the block.
Texas university austin Texas (tuat).
That and the fact Tennessee was established nearly 100 years before Texas. Pretty sure they won’t be the one changing anything if anything does get changed.
Tennessee doesn’t need to change anything. They are UT, and that Austin, TX university is going to have to defer once it signs on with the SEC. I think small-case tu rings true, considering the hypocrisy and hubris that the college in question has accumulated over the years.
To me, it seems Texas fans are just as arrogant as UGA fans, so nothing new there. Both have a couple titles but act like their the greatest thing since sliced bread.
The typical “oh i’ve seen those type of guys” before you actually find out how worse they are. Don’t say we didn’t warn yoh.
Don’t judge the UGA fanbase based on people like Negan and I won’t judge the bama fanbase based on people like you.
That’s funny coming from a fan whose screen name used to be 30014 before pretending to be a Vols fan…
You’re just as bad as Negan…
The TAMU/tu rivalry is real, going back way before the days of tu students firebombing A&M’s campus from a plane back in 1947 and then running out of gas.
tu used to be able to claim to be the “big brother”, but the dynamic between the two schools has changed dramatically in the past 10-15 years. TAMU’s placed an emphasis on growth in academics and investment in sports while tu’s landlocked in their 40 acres to the point of trying to convince their School of Social Work to move a dozen miles off campus and fight through Austin traffic so they can have room to build a small indoor football practice facility on a lot that’s not even 100 yds long. No, really. That’s actually true. Not much for long term planning, that group.
Both schools are good options for students academically, but if you talk with high school students, A&M’s seen by most as a better choice. We’ve invested as aggressively in our engineering facilities as in football. 5,200 acres compared with 40 acres is about all you need to say in terms of the continued growth potential. You can talk all you want about the past, but it’s not like that anymore and I don’t see it going back.
As much as I didn’t like the idea of tu joining the SEC, I’m in the group that can’t wait to see Aggies bury them annually.
How silly. I guess Texas fans need this to nonsense try and stay motivated. It’s like Russian propaganda. I have no idea what the SEC is going to do about scheduling, but no one should be afraid of Texas at this time.
I am still firmly against them being in the conference, but when it happens, I’m fine with settling it on the field EVERY year. Me and my oldest are planning to be at that first game.
Always chuckle when a Bama fan calls another team’s fans arrogant.
We are pretty arrogant, sure. The thing is, Bama fans can actually back it up considering Bama has dominated college football for the past 15 years. Bama is the bluest of blue bloods in college football. You know it and we sure as h*ll do too.
