Texas A&M stole a commitment from another school in the Lone Star State, as it secured a pledge from Donovan Saunders on Friday.

Saunders went with the Aggies as opposed to TCU after the last 2 seasons at Cal Poly. He also took visits with Utah and Washington since entering the portal on Dec. 3. Saunders was rated as the No. 9 corner, per the 247Sports Transfer Rankings in the 2024 class.

The cornerback played in 7 games last season at Cal Poly. He then saw his role expand this season and appeared in 10 games. He’s accounted for 19 total tackles, 4 interceptions, 12 pass breakups for the Mustangs from 2022-2023.

The Aggies allowed 207.6 passing per game this season, which was the 7th-fewest in the SEC this season. The defense as a whole was stout and allowed the 3rd-fewest yards per game (316.2) in the conference.

Texas A&M has lost some players at corner to the portal this postseason. Tyreek Chappell, Tony Grimes, and Deuce Harmon all entered the portal. However, the Aggies are bringing in former Kansas State CB Will Lee III and have a verbal pledge from 5-star corner Terry Bussey.

It was a 7-6 finish to the year for Texas A&M after losing to Oklahoma State in the Texas Bowl. Rack up another transfer commit from Mike Elko.
