Texas A&M beefed up its defensive line room for 2025 on Friday night, as Colorado transfer Dayon Hayes committed to the Aggies, he told On3.
The 6-foot-4, 255-pounder is an edge rush specialist but had trouble staying on the field in 2024. He was limited to 3 starts in his 1 and only season at Colorado before getting injured. But the production was there when Hayes was able to play, as he led the Buffaloes in sacks and tackles-for-loss before the injuries started to derail his season.
Hayes, who will have 1 year of eligibility remaining, finished with 16 tackles, 10 of them solo, and 2 sacks this season.
This will be Hayes’ 3rd stop of his collegiate career. Before his 1 season in Boulder, Hayes played 4 seasons at Pittsburgh. He appeared in 39 games for the Panthers, piling up 81 tackles, 25.5 tackles-for-loss and 12 sacks, so there is a history of success for Hayes that Texas A&M will hope shines through in 2025.
Hayes also had 5 pass deflections and 2 forced fumbles during his years at Pitt, which were highlighted by many standout performances. Hayes was named ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week twice while playing for the Panthers.
Now, he’s taking his talents to the SEC to finish off his collegiate career.
