It just wouldn’t be the offseason without headlines about renewing the Texas A&M vs. Texas football rivalry. Everybody has an opinion. From time to time, presidents, athletic directors, coaches, former players and recruits offer their thoughts on getting the Aggies and Longhorns to play each other again on the gridiron. TAMU students have now weighed in thanks to the latest campus vote.

The Texas A&M student body is in overwhelming favor of bringing the game back. Over 88 percent of voting A&M students favor renewing the rivalry. Students, of course, don’t have to worry about the logistics of balancing conference and non-conference schedules.

The vote, though, likely means the conversation will continue. It will almost certainly lead to more comments from school president Michael Young who has publicly expressed support, but privately said otherwise.
