It’s been almost five years since Texas A&M and Texas last played, and though new Aggies athletic director Scott Woodward has “no objection” to renewing the rivalry, he believes that won’t happen in the near future.

โ€œWe have to really assess what is our best path to winning the (Southeastern Conference) West,โ€ Woodward told the Daily Tribune. โ€œI donโ€™t foresee anything happening in the near future. There are a lot of opinions well above my pay grade. Rivalries, I think, are healthy for the game.

โ€œItโ€™ll be something weโ€™ll consider,โ€ he added. โ€œItโ€™ll be a discussion Iโ€™ll have to have. I have no objection to it. Itโ€™s something that has to work for us and for folks.โ€

Texas A&M joined the SEC prior to the 2012 season, putting an end to the heated rivalry, at least for the time being.

Texas leads the series 76-35-5ย โ€” a rivalry that dates back all the way to the 1894 season. The Longhorns won the final matchup in 2011, 27-25 in College Station.
