5-star 2018 OL Cade Mays drops Tennessee from list of schools
The prize of the Tennessee 2018 recruiting class used to be 5-star OL Cade Mays, but the talented player de-committed from the Vols back on Nov. 7.
Now, he’s no longer considering Tennessee among his school choices, according to an edit he posted on Twitter on Thursday night.
As you can see below, the top-three schools on Mays’s list right now are Georgia, Clemson and Ohio State:

Will the Bulldogs be able to land a player once committed to their SEC East rivals? That remains to be seen, but Georgia already has commitments from the top quarterback and top running back in the 2018 class.
According to the 247Sports composite, Mays is the No. 2 offensive tackle in the class of 2018 and the No. 1 overall recruit from the state of Tennessee.
Perhaps the Vols will re-enter the discussion when they have a new coach, but for now, Mays is moving on with his recruitment.
I say good riddance. I was at the state championship game last night and the kid is a thug. Multiple holding calls and a unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. His technique wasn’t all that great either. As much of an imposing force as he looks, he really wasn’t that impressive to be completely honest.
Wow, those grapes must be real sour. This should send a message to current and future Tennessee commits/targets – the lunatic fringe Tennessee fanbase will turn on you faster than a politician at a fundraiser. This not a place you want to go play.
What a dumb post. I hate we lost him but certainly don’t blame the kid. Wish he would have waited for a new coach but he can go anywhere he wants and he sure gave UT longer than a lot of kids would have in his situation given all the turmoil in the football and now overall athletic department. You just keep sayin good riddance to high caliber players and see where that gets us.
Those tears must be extra salty!
eaglebuc – You need to remove this. I graduated from BHS and was at the game. You’re upset we were beaten by a better team and that he taunted the crowd once. This kid is a stud. He looked to have hurt his knee (looked bad) because his coach had him in the game with 4 min left in a blowout win (horrible coach mistake). I hope he is fine and ready to play in the fall.
Now – with Phil Fulmer as the AD, coaching and recruiting conversations could re-open. People always said Phil was $$$ in the living room and could recruit anyone. I hope that’s true for coaches as well, and it could re-open conversations with guys like Mr. May.
Please reconsider and delete this post.
It has nothing to with the game but has all to do with the attitude of the kid is all I’m saying. I like the O-line to have a nasty streak to them but within the confines of the game not taunting, slapping players in the head, and holding.
Hearing Currie has been fired…
Don’t blame him for avoiding this dumpster fire. Or, anyone else.
Cade loving him some UGA!
