Tennessee has emerged as the big story in college football thus far in 2022.

The Volunteers blasted Kentucky 44-6 on Saturday night to move to 8-0 on the season.

Josh Heupel’s team is now tied with Ohio State at 2nd in the latest AP Top 25 ahead of its massive showdown at top-ranked Georgia on Saturday.

Heupel and his staff are drawing praise from everyone these days for what they have accomplished in their 2nd year in Knoxville. That includes former players.

Former Tennessee standout and current New Orleans Saints rookie Alontae Taylor took to Twitter on Sunday to make his feelings known.

“It’s a coach you want to play for and a coach you want to lay it all out there for,” Taylor tweeted. “That’s what we do – not just for Coach Heupel. This entire staff. The culture is totally different here, and I am excited for the future that this entire University has with them and within our whole athletic department.”

Taylor was selected by the Saints in the 2nd round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He was the 49th overall pick.

He has recorded 6 tackles so far this season, including 3 on Sunday in a 24-0 win over Las Vegas.
