Alvin Kamara’s rookie stats are incredible compared to other Saints’ rookie RBs

When the New Orleans Saints selected former Tennessee RB Alvin Kamara in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft, it was immediately applauded as a solid pick.

The Saints have since been proven right, as Kamara has shown both rushing and pass-catching abilities out of the New Orleans backfield for a Saints team that has gotten off to a surprising 6-2 start.

After Sunday’s win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Kamara’s numbers look really good when compared to some other New Orleans rookie running backs’ stats throughout history. As you can see below, Kamara doesn’t have the total yards that players like George Rogers and Ricky Williams had, but his versatility and scoring prowess are virtually unmatched in Saints history:

Since trading Adrian Peterson, the Saints have been getting the ball to Kamara more often, which has been a good thing for their offense.

If Kamara keeps putting up the numbers he has through eight games, he’ll warrant some serious consideration alongside Kansas City RB Kareem Hunt and others for the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year award.
