Battle at Bristol executive anticipating over 160,000 to be in attendance
Tennessee’s Week 2 matchup with Virginia Tech was already poised to set the record as the most attended game in the history of college football but as the game gets closer, the official number of spectators has become more clear.
According to Bristol Motor Speedway general manager Jerry Caldwell, the number of spectators is set to exceed 160,000 for the Sept. 10 game between the two schools:
Jerry Caldwell, GM at BMS, said tonight he expects 160,000 for Battle at Bristol, more when count auxiliary personnel.

The NCAA acknowledges the 2013 Michigan-Notre Dame game as the most attended game in the sport’s history – 115,109 fans witnessed that game live. Needless to say, next weekend’s showdown will dwarf the previous record holder.
