The Tennessee Volunteers (2-2) look to snap a nine-game losing streak in their annual SEC East matchup against Florida (3-1) Saturday. The Vols are coming off a heartbreaking 35-32 loss to No. 13 Georgia, but showed promise against a heavily favored opponent. The Gators look to improve after a bye week that followed a blowout loss to Alabama in Week 4.

Here’s three bold predictions for Saturday’s game.

Bold Prediction No. 1: Jalen Hurd will set a new season-high in rushing yards

Jalen Hurd’s freshman season can be summed up in one word: progression. Hurd has seen an increase in single-game rushing yards during each game this season, breaking the 100-yard plateau in Week 5 with 119. The tailback will continue to play a vital role in Tennessee’s offense as it looks to match an impressive Florida rushing attack.

Bold Prediction No. 2: Marquez North improves with Von Pearson’s return

Marquez North hasn’t put up the stats many expected entering the 2014 season. North has 188 yards and three touchdowns on 17 catches. Two of his touchdowns came against Arkansas State, the same game in which No. 2 option Von Pearson suffered a high ankle sprain in the second quarter.

The former JUCO All-American has missed action since and North has seen an increase in opposing pass coverage. Pearson practiced for the first time this past week and is likely to play on Saturday. With Pearson back in the fold, along with an improving Josh Malone, North should see less double coverage from the Gators secondary.

Bold Prediction No. 3: Tennessee wins for the first time since 2004

No matter what the stakes or how the teams looked before kickoff, Tennessee always finds a way to lose to Florida. Since 2005, the Gators have won every game of the annual SEC East matchup, which is unsurprising given Florida’s overall success in that span and Tennessee’s lack there of against other teams. But the Vols are favored and look like a more complete team than in years past.
