Brandon Davis has a message for Vol Nation, don’t believe everything you read online.

This message from Davis comes after the Tennessee defensive back was shot near campus over the weekend in the early morning hours of Saturday. While the situation is bad, the good news is Davis’ injury was non-life-threatening and he received care from the health providers at UT Medical Center immediately following the shooting.

The incident took place at Uptown Bar & Grill on Cumberland Avenue, where Davis was with his Tennessee teammate, Trevon Flowers.

In a report by Blake Toppmeyer of the Knoxville News Sentinel, both Davis and Flowers say the shooting occurred inside Uptown Bar & Grill according to the police report. Additionally, the KNS story mentions one officer wrote in the police report he heard spectators claim Davis shot himself while in the bar.

That last segment of information is where Davis takes issue with the report.

“Vol fans don’t believe reporters saying a shot myself I’m an innocent bystander minding my business and randomly got shot,” Davis shared on Monday.

After issuing that comment, Davis had another to share with his Twitter followers: “I didn’t shot [sic] myself lol how ppl so dumb like I never touched a gun in my life.”

Tennessee is set to begin spring practice this week in Knoxville and now open camp with the New Orleans native sidelined. Davis signed with Tennessee in the 2018 recruiting cycle out of John Curtis High School and is set to be a redshirt sophomore next season.
