Tennessee QB Brian Maurer details his battle with depression including suicidal thoughts in an effort to help those in need
If you were unaware, May is Mental Health Awareness Month in the United States.
The purpose of assigning a month for mental health is to bring awareness of the depression and anxiety that many people in the country suffer from on a day-by-day basis. It can be an excruciating experience that leads many to tragically take their life.
Tennessee quarterback Brian Maurer is well aware that May is Mental Health Awareness Month and the rising sophomore took the time to share a very personal story on his Instagram account on Friday, including the fact that he nearly took his life back in January before God sent him a message that saved his life.
Here’s the post Maurer shared providing a level of insight that very few athletes ever share with the public.
Here’s to hoping that anyone in need receives Maurer’s message and chooses to make the same decision he did by realizing the value of his life and the love others have for him.
