Rick Barnes reacts following SEC's decision to cancel 2020 tournament
If you missed the breaking news out of Nashville, the Southeastern Conference has canceled the 2020 SEC Tournament one day into the event.
On Wednesday, the opening night of the event, Georgia beat Ole Miss 81-63 and Arkansas beat Vanderbilt 86-73.
Here is the statement issued by the league on Thursday:
Based on the latest developments and the continued spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Southeastern Conference today announced the cancellation of the remainder of the 2020 Men’s Basketball Tournament in Nashville.
Tennessee and Alabama were set to open the second day of the event from Nashville for the right to move on to round three of the tournament but that obviously won’t be happening now.
ESPN reporter Marty Smith was on hand to get a live reaction from Tennessee coach Rick Barnes following the news.
According to the Tennessee coach, “They absolutely made the right decision.”
"There's no question [Greg Sankey] made the right decision."
