Former Tennessee QB announces transfer plans to play for Jim McElwain at Central Michigan
For the second time in less than a year, former Tennessee QB Quinten Dormady is on the move.
Dormady announced on Twitter that he would transfer from Houston, where he was the third-string quarterback, to Central Michigan to play for former Florida coach — and newly hired at Central Michigan —Jim McElwain. Dormady left Tennessee after he lost the starting job to redshirt freshman Jarrett Guarantano.
“During that time, I was able to redshirt, which allowed me to get healthy, stronger and faster,” Dormady said of his stint in Houston. “I now have the opportunity to play my final collegiate season at Central Michigan University.”
Dormady played in two games, and was 2-for-5 passing for eight yards.
At Tennessee, Dormady appeared in 16 games with five starts. He started the first five games of the 2017 season before he had a season-ending surgery in October. Dormady threw for 925 yards and six touchdowns in 2017 and rushed for 13 yards.
In his first career start, he led Tennessee to a 42-41, double-overtime win over Georgia Tech, as he passed for 221 yards and two touchdowns in the 2017 season opener.
