Video: Former Vols LT on noise from media: 'It's hard to ignore'
Tennessee’s top-rated sports show “The Sports Source” talks about Volunteer football every Sunday morning. For today’s show, former Volunteers left tackle Kyler Kerbyson was asked about noise from the media and how much it can affect a team.
“It’s hard to ignore all of the stuff that people say to you,” Kerbyson said. “They’re very negative about a lot of things. And you think, would that help a team if you were being negative toward them? No, it wouldn’t, so try to be positive.”
The Volunteers are currently 3-0 in 2016, but because of the preseason expectations of possibly winning the Southeastern Conference outright, the way in which they have gone about their wins has been questioned. Tennessee defeated Ohio yesterday, 28-19.
Up next for the Volunteers will be its first SEC challenge of the season when the team hosts Florida at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. ESPN’s “College GameDay” will be in Knoxville to witness the action.
There are expectations, and unrealistic expectations. UT has a team with a lot of individual talents (when not injured) but seem to have trouble playing as a team. OL is disturbing, unless that improves (and Debord gets the full playbook available) the defence might keep the Vols in games, but this is a weak 3-0 going into Florida week. Don’t feel like they really played anybody yet, and losing starting QB will add more intrigue to the battle. I’m wanting to see the SEC get back to being equal/better to the west.
Hell, UGA and UF are the only two teams in the East.
You need to say just UF…Until Uga Beats The Vols again, UGA is Tennessee’s B!tch…
38 -31 now shut up …
Not to mention 2 comeback wins against an FCS opponent and Mizzou.. Hard to talk big about yourself when you’ve shown little to no more authority than anyone else in the East.
You do know that Butch has only beat Georgia 1 time since becoming UT’s HC right? So please tell me how winning 1 out of 3 games makes Georgia his “B!tch.”
True. But that win puts us ahead in the all-time series 22-21. So, for now, you’re our b!tch.. Like I said, Georgia hasn’t shown any more superiority in the East than anyone else.
Kerbyson is right. All some of our fans, and the press want to do is moan and groan about our performance. This year we are 3-0, and haven’t lost a game since last October against the eventual nation champions.(5 points) I remember the Kiffin/Dooley era all too well. So no complaints from me. Even if we drop a couple games this year, which is realistic for any team in the SEC. We can still win the SEC east. But as soon as we drop one look out. The fair weather fans and pollsters will all come out and say “I told you so!” GBO!!!
