Tennessee pulls offer from four-star DE Marques Ford
Following what defensive end Marques Ford (Gibsonton, Fla.) called a ‘great’ official visit to Tennessee over the weekend, the four-star prospect has decommitted from the Vols’ 2015 class.
Update: Marques Ford’s prep coach, Frank LaRosa, says Tennessee pulled Ford’s offer according to the Tennessean.
“It’s an ugly business,” LaRosa told the newspaper. “In the nasty business, they kept it sort of honest by at least saying that they had other commits and they were pulling his commitment.”
Ford announced his decision via social media on Wednesday:
Due to circumstances, I am decommiting from the University of Tennessee and opening up my recruitment…

With the announcement — likely a product of over-signing — the Vols dropped a spot to No. 4 in 247Sports’ national team rankings. Tennessee has 27 current commits including five-star defensive tackle Kahlil McKenzie who showed his support shortly after Ford’s decision:
??? hate when this happens love my dude tho

Ford has offers from several other SEC programs including Ole Miss and Mississippi State. He committed to Tennessee in July over Rutgers and Duke.
