Tennessee freshman QB Brian Maurer got the start on Saturday against Mississippi State, and the results have been mixed so far.

In the first half, he’s 4-for-7 for 61 yards. However, two of those incompletions went to Mississippi State defenders. He did lead a touchdown drive in the first quarter, though, and Tennessee still holds a narrow 7-3 lead.

Now, he’s in the medical tent after taking a big hit late in the second quarter.
