Hendon Hooker is making the rounds as the NFL Draft draws near.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that the former Tennessee quarterback is flying to Detroit to meet with the Lions on Tuesday. Detroit owns the No. 6 and No. 18 picks in the first round of the NFL Draft later this month. Hooker is also reportedly taking visits later in the week to meet with the Las Vegas Raiders (No. 7) and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (No. 19).

The Lions have starting quarterback Jared Goff under contract through 2024. GM Brad Holmes said last month they view Goff as their starter and even though they want to add depth at the position behind Goff, taking a quarterback with either of their first two picks “has to make sense.”

The Raiders are entering a new era at the position after releasing Derek Carr in February. The team signed Jimmy Garoppolo to a 3-year, $72.75 million contract at the beginning of free agency last month — with a reported $34 million guaranteed. They also signed veteran quarterback Brian Hoyer to a 2-year deal last week. Still, Las Vegas has been linked to quarterbacks like Will Levis and Anthony Richardson in numerous mock drafts.

The Bucs signed Baker Mayfield to a $4 million deal this offseason. He’ll battle with Kyle Trask, whom the Bucs chose 64th overall in 2021.

Hooker’s stock has been tough to gauge during the pre-draft process. His production with the Volunteers speaks for itself, but an ACL injury suffered late in the year has his status for the start of the year a point of contention for some. He’s also 25 years old; Hooker is only 1 year younger than Lamar Jackson, the former NFL MVP entering his sixth season as a pro.

Still, Hooker has been rising in recent weeks. Over the weekend, NFL Network’s James Palmer stated that “several teams” have Hooker as QB3 on their boards, only behind CJ Stroud and Bryce Young.
