During his time on Rocky Top, Jalen Hurd nearly became the school’s all-time leading rusher in only three seasons of play. We all know what unfortunately happened next.

The in-state star left the team midseason after refusing to return to the field against South Carolina in 2016 in a game that ended up resulting in the Gamecocks pulling a massive upset against the Vols. That loss is one that haunts many Tennessee fans to this day and was ultimately the beginning of the end for Butch Jones at Tennessee.

While many were angry at Hurd at the time, the vast majority of that anger has turned away from the former Volunteer and is now being directed at the current Alabama intern. In case you have forgotten, Jones is currently in his second season of internship down in Tuscaloosa working for his boss, Nick Saban.

After one season at Baylor, Hurd was selected in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers as a receiver.

In his NFL debut on Saturday, Hurd caught two passes against the Dallas Cowboys.

After seeing Hurd successful transition to a new position in the NFL, Vol Twitter responded with some interesting takes that mostly blame Butch for wasting all the talent he had to work with on Rocky Top:
