Jalen Hurd just can’t catch a break.

The San Francisco 49ers surprised many when the team drafted Hurd in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft following his transition to receiver at Baylor but the buzz regarding the former Tennessee running back was growing after a strong preseason showing this time last year during his first NFL training camp.

Unfortunately, Hurd injured his back and never managed to play last season for the team that went on to advance to the Super Bowl.

The 49ers were hoping for a big comeback season from Hurd, but now even that looks to be uncertain as Mike Garafolo of NFL Media is reporting that Hurd has suffered a serious injury during camp.

“49ers WR Jalen Hurd is undergoing an MRI this morning after suffering what’s believed to be a major knee injury in practice yesterday, sources tell me and @RapSheet. The fear is the test will reveal a torn ACL. Test will tell full story,” Garafolo reported on Monday.

With Deebo Samuel limited to start the upcoming season, the opportunity for Hurd to make his impact felt in San Francisco was available.

Now, unfortunately, we wait to find out how serious the Tennessee native’s injury is and if he’ll be able to make an impact on the field at all for what should be his second NFL season.
