Jeremy Pruitt jokes he would have liked to have seen his punter truck multiple Gamecocks after mishandling snap

Tennessee may have won the opener against South Carolina on Saturday night, but the Vols were all out of sorts early in that matchup.

In his first game as the starting quarterback for the Gamecocks, QB Collin Hill marched South Carolina’s offense down the field for a touchdown on the opening possession of the game on Saturday.

When the Volunteers got the ball, they managed to go just 13 yards on six plays — which included an ill-advised pass by punter Paxton Brooks to Tennessee long snapper, Will Albright following a mishandling of the snap.

Of course, Tennessee failed to convert on that play — for starters, it’s illegal to pass the ball to the snapper — but thankfully the defense stood tall following that miscue and no points were surrendered by the Vols.

While that’s not something Jeremy Pruitt likely would have joked about had Tennessee lost the game, the coach managed to find some humor in the situation during his Monday press conference.
