Jeremy Pruitt is returning to his roots as an Alabama physical education teacher, according to a report.

That news was first reported by Paige Dauer of WVLT, which is ABC’s affiliate in Knoxville. Dauer says Pruitt has been hired at Plainview High Schoool.

Pruitt has been a PE teacher before. In the early 2000’s, Pruitt took on that role at Willis Valley Elementary School while also serving as an assistant football coach Fort Payne High School.

Less than 10 years after his PE days were over, Pruitt had risen to defensive backs coach at the University of Alabama. A few years later, in 2018, he became the head coach at Tennessee.

Pruitt’s tenure as Tennessee’s coach came to an end after the 2020 season. He was fired for cause as Tennessee reported numerous recruiting violations that occurred under Pruitt’s watch. Earlier this month, Pruitt was given a show-cause penalty by the NCAA.

Plainview High School is Pruitt’s alma mater. He was previously an assistant coach at Plainview in 1998 and 2000.

Pruitt’s hiring has not been officially announced by Plainview High School.
