Joe Milton’s arm strength has never, ever been in question.

The former Michigan QB transferred to Rocky Top after a stint at Michigan, but spent 2 seasons behind Hendon Hooker on the depth chart. Now, in 2023, he’s set for his shot as Tennessee’s starting man under center.

On Wednesday, 247Sports released a list of the top 11 strongest arms in college football, and with a selection that should shock nobody, Milton ranked No. 1. Freshman Tennessee quarterback Nico Iamaleava ranked No. 8 on the list.

Here’s a small sample why he’s No. 1:

You’ve heard the same thing over and over at this point: Sure, he can throw 80 yards flat-footed, but how has his accuracy improved heading into his final year?

When Hooker went down at the end of last season, Milton came in and had a solid showing against Vanderbilt and in the Orange Bowl against Clemson. Those who watch the Vols would know it was a noticeable step forward from the start of his career at Tennessee.

And with one of the best QB prospects Tennessee has ever had as his backup, Milton has to know his leash won’t be too long in 2023.

Let’s see if he can step up and prove to be the guy in Josh Heupel’s offense.
