Jim Rome is sold on Tennessee's hire of Josh Heupel: 'He's going to bring them back'
There may not be a bigger Josh Heupel fan out there than Jim Rome.
The longtime sports radio host recently had Heupel on his program to discuss taking over the Tennessee program and following their interview, Rome shared his thoughts on the new leader of the Volunteer football program.
“That’s the guy I think who’s gonna get it done. I love him as a coach,” Rome said on his show. “And I’ll you why – number one, really, really smart. Like, no matter what, everybody at that level can X & O, but I think schematically, I think that he is really, really smart at what he does – like scary smart.
“He does a really good job of connecting with everybody, a great job of connecting with every single player all the way down the line, and knows how to run a program. I think they got it right. He’s gonna bring them back.”
Tennessee’s official football account tweeted out Rome’s comments below if you want to hear them for yourself.
