Josh Heupel has a reuinion game this weekend as he takes on Missouri.

The Tennessee head coach spent 2 seasons at Missouri in 2016 and 2017 as an offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach before taking the head coaching job at UCF and ultimately landing with the Vols.

Heupel reflected on his time at Missouri during the SEC coaches teleconference on Wednesday, discussing what he remembers most about his time with the Tigers.

“When I think back to that time period, I think about the people first and foremost,” Heupel said. “A lot of people that were influential, still have a lot of those people that are with me, former players that played there. Young coaches that have been with me over the last 6 years. What we were able to build there, from when we took it over to where we left it, really proud of what we did. And that only happens because you’ve got quality people that are extremely competitive, but care about the people around them and know there’s a lot of those players that I’m still in contact with that I see frequently, or hear from frequently, and one of the great stops on my journey.”

Heupel and Tennessee are looking for a big win over his former team this weekend. The Tigers are coming off a loss against Georgia and looking to get back on track. The Vols are hoping to pick up a signature win in the midst of a tough stretch of games.
