Josh Heupel and Tennessee are off this week, but the Vols are still working on how to better finish games like the big win over Florida.

“You want to finish the football game with the ball in your hands and take control of the game when you have the opportunity,” Heupel said on the SEC coaches media teleconference. “… Glad we got the first first down, but we need to finish the game with the ball in our hands.”

Speaking of the bye, Heupel said self-scouting is paramount during the open week.

“You’re always trying to balance that every week while trying to maintain the integrity of what you’re doing,” he said. “… It’s always a part of what you do on bye weeks when you get a chance to dig deeper into it.”

Heupel and the Vols return to action next week at LSU in an 11 a.m. local time kickoff.
