Josh Heupel shares what he was told about controversial no TD call in OT of Music City Bowl

Josh Heupel was visibly at a loss as to why Jaylen Wright’s run on fourth-and-goal from the 1-yard line in overtime of the Music City Bowl was not ruled a touchdown.

Wright appeared to extend the ball far enough to cross the plane, but the play resulted in a turnover on downs giving the ball to Purdue. The Boilermakers won the game 48-45 with a field goal.

“They said the forward progress had been stopped,” Heupel said in his postgame press conference, per 247Sports. “Sounded like the whistle blew after he extended the football.”

Many fans and media members were upset by the forward progress call.
