Josh Heupel understood that his team is in an uphill battle against Missouri largely because Cody Schrader is having a whale of a game.
Schrader had 18 carries for 105 yards and a touchdown as Missouri took a 13-7 lead to halftime. Josh Heuple spoke with Jenny Dell of CBS Sports at halftime.
“We’ve got to get off the field, got to eliminate some of the quarterback runs, some of it was just scramble, gotta have better rush integrity,” Heupel said. “Offensively, we got to get going here and go finish some drives, structurally they were a little different early, we adjusted and got to go play here in the 2nd half.”
Tennessee had a promising 10-play drive end with a fumble, but otherwise, the Vols had drives of 4 plays, 6 plays and 3 plays, as Missouri had a dominant edge in time of possession with 21:08 minutes with the ball compared to 8:52 for Missouri.
Missouri had 15 first downs, to Tennessee’s 7, and 300 total yards, to 201 for Tennessee.
