It was not long ago that many viewed Tennessee as the best team in college football as the Volunteers also once held the top spot in the College Football Playoff rankings.

While several certainly got a kick out of watching South Carolina pull an insane, 63-38 upset over Tennessee, college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit drew a line with one fan who said he “must have been super excited” when the Vols lost.

Herbstreit clarified that he had already eaten his crow much earlier in the season, and he’s not particularly ever rooting for any team to lose.

“Think you should go back to the disc golf course and HAVE A DAY!,” Herbstreit replied. “I happily admitted missing on the Vols early in the year and was enjoying their magical year. I’m afraid you have a nasty case of hearing what you WANT to hear. I cheer for close games not teams to lose.”

How things play out for Tennessee as it faces a Vanderbilt Commodores team that has shockingly won two-straight against SEC competition will be something to watch as the Vols are still a slight dark horse to make it into the College Football Playoff.
